I think the entirety of this mix can be summed up in how Hotch described the two boys at the end of season two:
Agent Morgan fought to protect his identity from the very people who could save him. Why? Cause trust has to be earned and there are very few people he can trust.
Reid’s intellect is a shield that protects him from his emotions, and at the moment his shield is under repair.

(I see Morgan as one of those people who kind of slips in and out of relationships, never stays because it never feels right. But then again he wants it…. It is just an issue of trust. And slowly through season one and two we see him being forced to give over trust. At least to me it seems like the one he gives it easiest to is Reid. Call it mutual admiration, friendship or whatever but besides Garcia, Reid has gotten the closest thing to love I have seen Morgan give out. And before you ask, yes I used JC Chasez, mock me later. ;))

(carolinecrane is the one who first put this song in my head as them but the more that I hear it the more it makes perfect sense. This verse in particular. I like the idea of them connecting on the plane and when stranded during down time, through talking and books and everything that this song describes. It makes me bizarrely happy.)
