I really love well-done crack, as well. And I'm thrilled that you thought this was well-done and enjoyed it. Are you at all in the Sherlock fandom? Because I just read a MARVELOUS crackfic from the POV of Mycroft's umbrella.
"I think I am going to have to give the Doctor a gardening habit, now, so that he can have something different to do in my fics /embarrassed" You know, I was actually making fun of myself. It appears that if I want a heart-to-heart conversation between companion and Doctor that isn't interrupted, it involves the Doctor pretending to make repairs to the TARDIS. I understand why we do it. If we set them in another room, we might (as the authors) spend too much time essentially explaining the room, why they're there instead of in the console room, what they're doing... etc. When in reality, we just want to get to the shipping. Still, love your idea of gardening. Maybe not just regular gardening, but vegetable gardening? Because this Doctor is such a picky eater, he will only eat fresh. Ha!
You know, the fact that I can't even remember that paragraph enough to properly reproduce it should clue you in about how *off* I was. Thanks for your well-wishes. I wasn't actually *sick* but I was overworked. I spent about four and a half hours yesterday evening moving furniture and removing two rooms' full of carpet from out of my two-story house (and of course the room had to be upstairs)! Practically by myself too. I am woman, hear me roar. I was apparently even more exhausted than I thought though... Because I went to bed and didn't wake up until this evening. I have it from reliable sources that the sun was out today, but I never saw it. And I'm still tired! Hahaha.

No, I don't really follow the Sherlock fandom, except where it intersects with the Who fandom (I only have mental space for one fandom at a time). Loved the show, though.
You know, I was actually making fun of myself . . . Yeah, we've all been there. As you say, there are reasons we do it. And it's not like the show doesn't do it too. Reading that was definitely one of those *doh* moments for me though.

Really, ever since the timey-wimey tree gift fic, I've been tempted to think of the Doctor as an enthusiastic if somewhat incompetent gardener. Of carnivorous plants.

And oooh! I remember the time-wimey tree fic! Loved it. It was a fabulous idea. And love your idea of the Doctor gardening carnivorous plants. Though now I'm hearing, "Feeeed me, Doc-tor!" ala Little Shop of Horrors.
Haha! That is exceedingly clever. Thanks for sharing.
I think the tree one is a real favorite of mine--short and sweet. Hee--agree about the "feed me, Doctor!" Although I fear the carnivorous plants will have to compete with the new haircut, which looks like it eats things too.
