It's late and I'm tired .. so forgive if this sounds harsh ... mrdreamjeans January 15 2009, 05:11:37 UTC
I don't often speak on the topic. I'm way too cynical, but I'm irritated by Gay men who are brainwashed into thinking they are somehow less because their religions preach hatred of anyone who is different .. same thing for straight people who are threatened by Gay marriage ... If your faith is true and strong or if you've got a good marriage, how is my wanting and having the same thing negatively affect you? It doesn't. Faith will be tested, but should be unshakeable.

Tell your friend to grow some balls. His God should be a non-judgemental and loving anchor for his faith. Bible scholars understand that Jesus didn't teach the bullshit being put out by the fundamentalists. Your friend should focus on the teachings of fine men like Ed Bacon, not the jackasses who preach bigotry and hate.

After all, the Bible is a piece of literature, full of stories written by biased men. What if "Catcher in the Rye" had been picked up as the word of God? Bottom line, no one tells me how to think, feel or love. Sounds like your friend's family needs to attend a re-education camp or add a few brain cells.

HUGS ... Good on you for trying to lend a sympathetic ear to your friend.
