Bernadette Peters and Weekend with Roy

Aug 19, 2007 16:46

Roy at Fountain Square Roy and I went to see Bernadette Peters perform a benefit concert for Caracole last night. Oh. My God. She was phenomenal... I am so in love. She performed my two favorite songs of hers ("Unexpected Song" and "Being Alive"), and was kind enough to pose for pictures with everyone who had a VIP ticket (and of COURSE I bought VIP tickets... hello ;) ). She's short. She was just stunning... I only wish I could see it all over again.

Before the show, we went to McCormick & Schmick's -- which was quite good -- and had a few drinks at Universal Grille afterwards. I didn't recognize anyone at the bar... which might be a first!

Today we got up early, at my suggestion, and hiked through Ault Park for almost two hours. I was pretty wiped, but I enjoyed his ambition and interest in exploring some new paths that I hadn't been on before. And I earned 6 "Activity Points," which might help make up for the Long Island Iced Tea and apple pie last night.

After just a banana for breakfast, however, I was more than willing to introduce him to Zip's for lunch. They serve what are widely accepted as the best cheeseburgers in Cincinnati. I had a black bean burger which, surprisingly, totally amazed me.

That's it for now. My power has been out for about 30 minutes, and I'm sure the UPS on the DSL router will be giving up any minute now. I'm missing City of Angels :( Hope all the rest of you in LJ-land had a terrific weekend!
