My newly assigned research goal is something to the effect of "keep doing basic syntheses until we're confident that you can handle HF without killing yourself and/or losing extremities, then start your real project."

Coincidently, HF is one of the most dangerous chemicals used for non-weapons purposes. " Extremely toxic. May be fatal if inhaled or ingested. Readily absorbed through the skin - skin contact may be fatal. Acts as a systemic poison. Causes severe burns. Possible mutagen. Reaction may be delayed. Any contact with this material, even minor, requires immediate medical attention."

Ah, the joys of chemistry. Certainly a lot more interesting than my other subjects, anyway.
