Hi there,

I'm a member of your Shinshi Doumei Cross community on LiveJournal, and there's something that I think should be brought to your attention as the co-mod of the comm. I would have emailed you about this but there was no contact information in your profile.

There's recently been a post put up by a member, advertising "usernames" for sale. That is, selling out usernames of "usio" and "maguri" which they had already registered and now are offering to sell to other LJers. I... hardly believe this is legal or ethical, considering that it costs nothing to register an account, so the way it looks is that they are trying to gain money off other people for something that took no money or effort on their part. That aside, it is also strictly against the Livejournal TOS. Violating the TOS is grounds for suspension or banning.

I decided to be sensible about it and leave her a query on the post enquiring after whether she was aware of what she was doing or not, but not ten minutes later I found the comment to be deleted. Fortunately, I had a feeling something like that might happen, and took a screencap, which you can find here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v511/cassaru/?action=view¤t=lolfail.png
And a second comment (also deleted, surprise surprise) here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v511/cassaru/?action=view¤t=lolfail2.png
And a third comment, which has been screened, here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v511/cassaru/?action=view¤t=morefail.png
And the post itself, if it is still up by the time you get this email, here: http://community.livejournal.com/shinshi_doumei/42743.html?style=mine

I do not wish to drag LJ support into this matter, though I will if necessary. They have enough on their hands and complicate matters enough as it is. However, I feel it is your responsibility as a moderator of this community to put a stop to scams and TOS-violating posts such as this. It gives a terrible name/image to the community and is not the sort of behaviour that should be encouraged. As a member without any real power, there is nothing I can do except leave comments (which continue to be deleted/screened), email you, or as a last resort, take it to LJ. Which I already stated that I was hesitant to do, because I believe this matter can be solved by some simple modly intervention. I would suggest a warning to said member and deletion of the post, though this is only a suggestion and in no way should you think that I am telling you how to run your community.

I look foward to seeing some action taken regarding this matter.

Regards,

perfectdays.

In regards to the previous comment:

Never mind, the situation has been taken care of.

However, if you wouldn't mind replying to this comment/shooting me through an email (perfectdays/at/livejournal-dot-com) when you see it, since I have some suggestions (only suggestions, mind-- you don't need to pay them any mind if you wish not to) that I'd like to put forward to prevent such occurrences happening in your community again, if that's okay with you and gradious :).
