What a sad, sad story although extremely well acted. I would have changed one scene just to make it more poignant but otherwise it's a powerful movie. Mickey Rourke does a bang up job as someone who is only alive while on stage; it's the only place where he can't screw up because they work out the script in advance.

I think he definitely deserves the Oscar for his performance and he just might get it.
