A very happy Father's day to Dad and all the other fathers out there. Also, Happy Birthday to Mom.
Today went to see the Van Gogh experience at the Science Center, since it was the last day of the exhibit. I actually really enjoyed it; it was really well set up. Sure, it was basically just a series of projections on the walls set to music, but the way they presented it was just really impressive, what with the different themes and the quotes and all. Ah man, now I want to watch "Vincent and the Doctor" again. T_T
Family got Mom an iPad for her birthday, and she was quite pleasantly surprised to get it. It will probably take her some time to figure out how to use it, but she's pretty excited nonetheless.
This past week in the life of 'Katie is a Marvel addict', have been perusing their digital comic archive, checking out more of the Avengers related stuff (cause yeah, that movie has not helped this little craze at all). So yeah, went all the way back to read a few issues of the original Avengers, which is kinda simultaneously "awesome, this is where this team-up all started" and "lol, oh the 60s".
ie, where I laugh at Hulk's dialogue, make fun of Iron Man's original armor (which he literally powers by plugging a power cord into the wall!!), and roll my eye's at Wasp's stereotypical girlish obsession with boys and makeup (and yet I can't help but entirely sympathize with her observations there, because hey! Everyone in Marvel crushes on Thor).
Other than that been looking at books from the more recent past decade, with some New Avengers (primarily for Clint, though it has kinda reminded me that Spiderman is rather awesome and hilarious and now I'm rather looking forward to the movie with Andrew Garfield 'cause I like him) and some Captain America (not so much for Steve but for the whole Winter Soldier arc becaue OMG I WANT THIS STORY IN THE MOVIES RIGHT NOW!!) Oh dear, had no idea I would be developing this much desire to see more Bucky Barnes, but you just knew from the instant in the movie where he falls from the train and there is no body that the door is left wide open for him to return as a brainwashed, reprogrammed Soviet assassin. Also, totally just learned that he and Natasha have some pretty serious history together in the series and currently being very romantic together, and now I totally want to ship them which kinda sorta helps me sort out my conflicting feelings between shipping ClintxNatasha in the MCU or just loving the plain old mutual "I've always got your back" bff partnership they've got going. Granted, EMH kinda pushed me to prefer HawkeyeXMockingbird anyways, so not sorry at all. So yes, Winter Soldier for Captain America and Black Widow movies. (continues 'research')
Oh lord, speaking of, just watched the latest ep of Avengers:Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and have to honest, it is so very hard ot take seriously when your heroes are metaphorically shaking their fists and shouting "Purple Man!!" Spff, sorry that is such an unfortunate name for a villain.
....
And because I must, new X-Factor on Wednesday! The preview pages already have me shrieking!
...and just realizing that to anyone who accually read the preview pages, er, yeah... lol.
