Hello, my name is Katie and I am a Zelda fanatic.
Oh, I am such a happy Zelda fan right now. Just got Skyward Sword on Wednesday, and am having such fun. Oh my gosh, this game is gorgeous, and I'm only 6(?) hours in.
First off, as soon as I got my preorder game I took out the music CD and started listening to it. Fully orchestrated medleys and rearrangements of the most memorable Zelda tunes from the past 25 years, what more can I ask for? Truly beautiful music. What can I say, I enjoy listening to soundtracks.
Ok, so game itself. Visually, I really am enjoying the bright, vibrancy of the colors. I've heard people say that the art style is supposed to be reminiscent of watercolor paintings, and I can really see that. Just so fluid and full of character. Speaking of character, oh wow the animations! These people have personality and emotion! Well, not saying they didn't before in Zelda games, but I'm just coming off replaying Ocarina of Time (the gamecube port), which for all the praise is still basically populated by puppets that blink. Because seriously, how cute are Link and Zelda together in this new game? Almost sickingly sweet, and I ship those two so hard. ^_^
Alright, so on a more critical note, it is taking me a while to get used to these new controlls. First off, I've never used a Wii Motion Plus controller, so while I have the shiny gold Hylian edition from the preorder, it is really strange to adapt to the sensitivity. Haven't quite gotten the hang of how big of movements I need to make to swing the sword and such (though it is kinda fun making big epic slashes in life). Oh god, only just beat the first dungeon/Forest temple, and got killed at least 3 times by those damn Skulltulas. Honestly, its not just the Motion Plus, but also all the new button arrangements since so much has been updated from Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Ocarina. (A) is now running, not rolling? (which is now a nunchuck shake while running). Remember to tap [B] not hold, unless I'm changing items. Starting to get the hang of it. Lucky the first temple wasn't too difficult.
Oh yeah, and maybe it was the rather epic music in this game, but I am really getting that high fantasy/LotR vibe in this game. Those instructors at the knight academy would totally in at home in Rivendell. Also, villain guy (aka Lord Ghirahim) is kinda creepy. In that overconfident, omggetawaypersonalspace, "why do I not trust you promising not to murder me" with mardi gras fashion flair kind of way. I'm gonna have a lot of fun with this~
Trust me when I say there will be more raving to come.
Oh yeah, and today got a new TV just so I can play this game on it... Need to get some component cables now..
