Boston in the summertime... Freaking hot! It was in the 50's last week and rainy, and this weekend it was a billion degrees. (Omg, there were like a thousand firefighters! /Dane Cook reference and inside joke.) We've been working on the Tom O'Horgan collection (big time Broadway director back in the day) at work and are just about finished, so we've been relegated to vault reorganization. HGARC had a vault in the Fuller building that is now being turned into SHA classroom space, so they had to move everything to new space on the 4th floor. Since they only had 3 days to vacate, they hired moving people. Problem: Moving people don't consider the importance of keeping various boxes from collections together AND in numeric order. So we've been taking boxes off of shelves and putting them back on for the last couple of days. But we're almost done and then its back to cataloguing. At least I'm getting my exercise.
Speaking of which, Liberty & I have been fitrec-ing for the past couple weeks. Yay getting in shape. Also, its airconditioned in there, so its preferable to a lot of other places. Never thought I'd say that about a gym...
I've been investing my money in apartment stuff since I'll have an RA apartment next year too. So now I have a 27" tv (so worth what I paid the guy from craigslist), a microwave, and a blender, which we promptly tested out by making mudslides :) I'll have to put pictures up on facebook of my lovely apartment. Speaking of apartments- if you're going to come visit me this summer (here's looking at you, Amanda & Plasker), please figure out when so I can plan accordingly? Kthxbai.
I spent this afternoon walking around Coolidge Corner, which was nice despite the heat. Slurpees are wonderful things :) Plus, Liberty & I got to check out the used book store there, where she laughed at me for buying a Christmas Cookie cookbook, Salt- a book on the history of salt/salt trade, and a book about the Plague. I'm a history major, what did you expect? I've never denied being dorky. Then we hung out at a park/garden thing and took stupid pictures involving climbing a tree and a archy thing. And I finally got crab rangoons after wanting them for like 2 weeks straight. Mmm, deliciousness.
In very exciting news, I'm going to see Maroon 5/Counting Crows/Sara Whatsherfacewon'twriteyoualovesong in August! Super exciting. I don't think words can express the exciting.
Summer projects that I should get working on: Marshall Scholar application, GRE studying? Maybe? Haven't decided if I'm going to bother taking them yet. Learning French, and studying Medieval Latin. Have to get a medieval latin textbook once I get paid again on Friday.
So the Princess Bride is on and I have to go watch because its the best movie ever. Bye!
