I was in bed an hour ago.

And I was even starting to drift off. I was just on that edge between wakefulness and sleep when I heard the voice of my baby. She was talking to her MaMa on the phone. Mom thought I was still up and on the computer, she said, or she would have been quieter. But it's fine. I got to talk to my baby.

She told me about her balloon. It's pink. And I think she said it popped. She also told me about her new pony watch. Also, pink. And she said "miss you," "love you," "bye bye." :0)

In other news, mom has finally decided that I should go ahead and complete the move to my apartment. I have a bed now, but that really wasn't my main reason for delaying anyway. The real reason is still going to be somewhat of an issue. Mom's borrowing a truck for the moving; it's not ideal, but it's better than her being stuck out here without any transportation at all. If they would just finish the bridge already...

As we were driving home today, we were waiting our turn to cross the bridge as usual, when a state trooper car came blazing up. And then when we got our green light, an ambulance came through and we had to wait. But then we got on the bridge. Halfway across there was a car and some cops. Couldn't tell what that was about. Then going down the other side there was an accident, apparently the one that the ambulance was there for. A car rear-ended the truck in front of it. I suppose there'll be a story about it in the paper at some point.

The main thing is that I can understand the frustration people are feeling. We've had this one-lane bridge thing going on ALL summer. And it's the only way in and out of town unless you want to take loads of extra time going around the back roads. An accident waiting to happen and it finally did. All the red-light runners led up to this. I hope it wakes some people up. Yes, this is frustrating, but it's better to behave and not run red lights and stay safe than to have an accident because you're so impatient. We've all got places we'd rather be, people. But 99.9% of the time, it's really NOT that important.
