A plan of Attack...for real...I think...
Okay, so here's the latest news. Organization within our group has been running incredibly smooth and the Father and Evan and our new "Executive Committee" have all combined to make sure things get rolling. I am part of an Advanced Medical team consisting of our ER doctor and 4 nurses who are heading to Hikkaduwa on Thurs. to stay for about a week at a hotel there and work in the camps surrounding that area, which is a great deal more southern and thus more affected. After that, I don't know where I'll be working because a sub committee (sound like Office Space yet?) is going out tomorrow with specific questions with the goal to assess the southern camps and select ones that fit our criteria. The criteria are 1. Need--do they NEED us or are they receiving care from other sources? 2. Safety--is it relatively safe for our groups...is there some order or organization whether it be monks, priests, government, or community leaders. The east was ruled out because of Tamil tensions, despite the fact that we had local contacts and free housing. 3. Ability to remain at least within a days drive of the CSR Farm where the rest of our team is located. So hopefully, with this level or organization (which should have happened a week ago), we can not only have a very productive time for the rest of our time, but also pave the way for a smooth transition for the second group.
Dad, where in Germany do Scott and Christie live? I am stopping in Frankfurt overnight and thought if they were there I could maybe spend the night...let me know.
Ibby, could you hear my phone call at all? Apparantly there is a way to deposit money even without being endorsed if it's deposit only...could you call my bank and explain the situation and ask? It would be helpful to have that money available for supplies or additional housing costs.
