This book definitely has no subtext at all!

It is quite clear that I am reading to my this week's exam book, which has not subtext at all:

"This is the setting in which religious orgies sometimes occur, here understood as the inversion or violation of normal rules of behavior. [...] The matsuri relieves people from these strains and tensions by bringing their energies to white heat in the religious context."

See? No subtext at all! And besides we should never ever worry Japanese religious life because no way it might be strange:

"One bizarre group, now extinct, venerated electricity as its chief object of worship and Thomas Edison as a subordinate deity."

It is nice to notice that the culture where your hobbies originate from is as normal and pale as snow in Finland during mid-summer?
