im really starting to not like the floor at UWA REC centre.
After this kendo session, my entire left foot is sliced up at the bottom. I counted 3 layers of skin ripped off. The callous of dead skin, and then the other 2 layers beneath that are gone. You would have thought they would fix the wooden floors by now considering how many people use it. I've lost count how many times I stumbled over a small pothole or stubbed my feet in said holes. Even my little toe is injured!!!
Tonight's session had Brestovac-sensei starting the beginner's course again while Bonar-sensei took us 'seniors' ( I say senior because i have the armor but aside from that.....nothing special bout self).
What my senior said about beginner's progression is correct as i caught a glimpse today about what he meant. Junko-san's daughter joined us today and she seemed really uncertain about attacking and well....there isnt that sense of aggression i get from the seniors. I guess to them I seem like that not having that threatening aura around self.
On top of that, its alsom somewhat amusing seeing the beginners trying out kendo the first time as they attempt to get used to the footwork. And then I remind myself that I was like that exactly a year ago.
Today's lesson was interesting as we were practicisng the different countering techniques and it was fairly instructional. Frustating thing is that when slowed down, my countering goes completely wide off the mark as when Nigel tried to slow it down for me.....didnt really work and all that happened was me missing and getting thwacked over head.
I think Brestovac-sensei wanted to inspire the beginners more today in order to get more people interested so he made us do Kakari-gekko (is that how you spell it
h_jing_wen ?)
After that since it was William-sempai's birthday recently, the sensei decided to do a special round of momo-dachi(is that how you spell it again?) where people stood in a circle and William-sempai had to individually fight everyone in the circle until the final person was Brestovac-sensei himself.
Made me decide not to tell anybody in the kendo club when's MY birthday
