It would appear that I have found the perfect CO2 rifle to compliment my Colt Peacemaker.
A fun CO2 revolver to treat yourself with: cigarskunk2 - LiveJournal Like the Peacemaker, this rifle uses metal cartridges which you load the pellets into, then you load the cartridges via the side loading gate like you would with a real lever action rifle and after each shot, work the lever and eject the now "spent" cartridges.
Best of all, it uses the same cartridges as the pistol.
While this guy is loading them with BBs, I would recommend against doing so as the BBs are slightly smaller than the pellets and will thus bounce down the barrel, damaging the barrel and spoiling accuracy in the process - stick to lead pellets if you can.
Airguns Miami ran it through a chronograph and came up with an average velocity of 500 FPS for the pellets, which is slightly above average for most pump air rifles, meaning that in addition to this being able to easily kill a can or a squirrel, it could probably handle a possum and MAYBE a coon - likely not a groundhog without a head shot though as their fur and hide are too thick, although I'm thinking a head shot would be needed for a coon for the same reasons.
But seeing as how it's ejecting cartridges which you do want to retrieve to reuse, this is more of a can killer than a hunting rifle and the various reviews I've seen make it clear that it does the job quite well.
Legends Cowboy Lever Action | CO2 Air Rifle | Airgun Depot OK, but why pay around twice what you would pay for a good air rifle seeing as how it's technically inferior due to the loading mechanism?
Like the Peacemaker and MP40, this is something you purchase to add style points to your fun, plus, since I've got the Peacemaker, pulling them out together creates a theme to the day's shooting.
As I've said before with purchasing real guns, while most purchases are tools which I need, some are purely ones I want or that are for fun and this gun definitely meets that criteria.
