A voice breaks the silence for two minutes in the middle of the night. i hear you on that. as wonderful as the phone calls are, they make the emptiness afterwards feel even emptier... until the next call, anyway.

I think that the most comforting thing about it is that at leats we're all not alone. . .everyone associated with the Marine Corps has felt the same thing and somehow that makes the emptiness a little less violent.
