Receptionists add: "Only if you are registered"

Matthew 19:14 (Canadian Version 2011)

All started six-ish months ago.

Us: We're new to this neighborhood and would like to have our child baptized.
Receptionist: Oh, you're not registered with this church. We can't do it. You need to be registered for at least a year.

And recently.

Different church:
Receptionist: Oh we have jurisdictions. Call your old church and have them forward your information and we'll do it.

Old church (where we were registered in):
You haven't been going to this church regularly. We're not going to do it.

Growing up I really valued the church and its teachings. My family, especially my great grandma instilled in me such great love for the church. I'm a bit older now and haven't been a devout practitioner. But deep down I still valued its core teachings, and perhaps my religion could instill the same core values to my child.

So in a span of six months we've been turned down by three churches. So apparently its all business now. Maybe they should just open a credit card that we can apply for, one that's widely accepted in all Catholic churches around the GTA? Oh and a scanner by the door so that they can automatically withdraw money from it every Sunday and track our attendance? If that's too invasive maybe the basket they wave around is the scanner that collects your e-money. It'll be cool, you can pre-assign $5-$1,000 weekly denominations. I'm a techy guy, I can go all night.

At the rate this is going, guess the Catholic branch in my line ends here.
