9-month well-baby visit

Dec 07, 2007 14:01

Corwin had his 9-month checkup today. He's barely gained any weight since his 6-month visit, but he's grown another inch. He definitely seems to be taking after my side of the family -- long and skinny. It's also normal for breastfed babies to slow down on the weight gain as compared to formula-fed babies, so the doctor didn't think his weight was anything to worry about. He's certainly not showing ribs or anything. ;)

Height: 29"
Weight: 19 lbs 9 oz
Head circumference: 18"

I was very proud of Corwin when it came time for his finger stick (they drew blood to test his iron levels to make sure he doesn't need a supplement). He didn't even jump when the nurse pricked him, much less fuss or cry. He did fight having his hand held still while she collected the blood, but I expected that given how hard he fights holding still to have his fingernails cut.

Nothing else really of note. Doc says he seems perfectly healthy. Yay!

[EDIT: Oh, Doc also said upon looking in Corwin's mouth that his upper gums are swollen, so his middle top teeth ought to be in soon. I had suspected he might be teething again based on his behavior, but couldn't see/feel anything different in there myself (though admittedly last time I checked was a couple days ago).]

corwin, vital stats, teething
