Well, we have survived our trip to Slidell, Louisiana (whether we survive the trip home again remains to be seen). Corwin did pretty well in the car yesterday; we ended up stopping every 1.5 hours on average (sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more). Basically, every time we'd get in the car and start going again, he'd fall asleep and sleep for a half-hour to an hour and then wake up. One of us always sat in the back seat with him, and once he woke up it became our job to entertain him as best we could until we hit a good place to stop or he got fussy enough that we had to stop at the next available place. The biggest problem is that he just doesn't enjoy being in his car seat while he's awake very much. Something about being strapped in and lacking freedom of movement, I'd guess.
We left the house around 10:30 yesterday morning, and arrived here about 6:15 p.m. Not too shabby on the time given we were traveling with a 3-month old. :) He was pretty cranky when we got here, though, so we opted to just hang around the bed and breakfast rather than put him back in the car seat to go to Andrew's aunt and uncle's house. Andrew went back out and got gas and picked up dinner from Sonic for us.
We're staying at the
Woodridge Bed & Breakfast in Pearl River, Louisiana. It's a pretty nice place; our only complaint is that the room is lacking in a table and chair. We have a folding tray table that was in the closet that we're using for the laptop, and all sitting must be done on the bed. There is a daybed also, but we're using that as Corwin's makeshift changing table...so no real sitting can be done there. The room has a huge closet, so we're having Corwin sleep in his pack and play in there with the door partially closed. It works pretty well...last night we were able to put him down a little after 9, but not have to go to bed that early ourselves. And at the moment he's taking a nap in there. Yay! :) I was a little unsure how we were going to get him to take naps, since getting him to sleep for a nap usually requires either his swing (which was too big for us to bring) or a dark room that I can let him lay and suck on my finger in. It's impossible to make our room dark during the day, so the closet is a godsend. :)
I'm not sure what else is on our agenda today, other than the rehearsal dinner tonight. I'm sure we'll find something to keep us busy, though :)
