Weird day

Corwin was a real pill today, at least for the first part of the day. He woke up a little earlier than usual (8:45) and had pooped three times and peed on the wall by 9:30. After that he was okay for an hour or so, and then he got fussy. He'd fall asleep on my lap, but wake up and fuss the instant I tried to set him down. He fussed through my breakfast, and screamed for the 20 minutes it took me to go to the bathroom and have lunch. I managed to pump by laying him on the couch when he fell asleep on me later in the afternoon (I was sitting right next to him and watching him the entire time, so he wasn't in any danger of suffocating, so no one jump down my throat about how babies aren't supposed to sleep on sofas, please), but he started screaming right away when he finally woke up from that nap, too. I took his temperature rectally (which oddly calmed him down, and stimulated him to poop a little) 'cause this behavior was far more extreme than usual, and it was 99.4....not high enough to be worrisome.

About a half hour before Andrew got home from work he calmed down and became his usual happy self again. Oddly, it was like the reverse of the way his days usually go. Usually he's great during the day with me, and turns into a real pill in the evenings (which annoys the heck out of Andrew 'cause he never gets to spend positive time with the kid). Today he has been great most of the evening...Andrew actually enjoyed spending time holding and playing with him (unlike most evenings when he finds it a chore and can't wait to give the kid back to me because I can make him stop fussing by feeding him).

I think he was just having his usual problems with pooping, but they kicked in earlier in the day for some reason. *shrug*

In other news, we are starting to plan for future activities. We're trying to find a babysitter for Saturday evening so we can go to a friend's birthday gathering at a wine bar (not a place we can just take the kid along to). So far both my parents and Andrew's parents have said "maybe," so we'll see how it works out. At this point, I don't think I'm ready to try to leave him with non-family as the evening still tends to be his grumpy time of day, and I don't really want to inflict that on anyone who doesn't love him already. ;) However...

If you'd be willing to babysit for us sometime, please let me know. Having this event come up has made me realize that it would be good to have a list of people we can call and ask; you're not agreeing to babysit anytime we might ask, just letting us know you're willing to consider it and won't be upset if we do ask you at some point. :) We'd be willing to pay you if you want that, or reciprocate in kind if applicable, or buy you dinner sometime in exchange for your services...just let us know what, if anything, would make it worth your while. :)

We're also making plans to go to Andrew's cousin's wedding in Slidell, Louisiana at the beginning of June. That'll be our first LONG car trip with Corwin, so I need to put some thought into what we need to do to make that successful. I think I'd like to try to take him to Austin sometime before that, kind of as a practice run. But we'll see.

corwin, travel
