This is a rip-off from Stephen King's (I bow to your Greatness!) novel. Please don't kill me. I worship SK much, much more than you do. *cries rivers of tears*
The characters are from YuYu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Gravitation, Naruto and some others. I didn't include the other scenes coz' I got tired typing. *gets shot in the face*

Kurama ran upstairs as fast as he could, heart banging against his chest. He pushed the door open and it banged against the wall with a dull sound.
On the bed, a very pregnant Hiei was sitting up, a look of worry on his face. Beside him was two-year old Hatsuharu, groaning and complaining before settling back to sleep.
The redhead almost sagged in relief. “Thank God…!” he exhaled and stumbled to the bed, his legs shaky and useless. “Thank God, you’re safe…!”
Hiei touched his arm. “What’s going on? I think I heard fireworks or someth…!” his words were cut off as Kurama hugged him so tight. The darkhead stiffened as he felt his husband trembling against him. “Kurama…?”
The redhead kissed him. Surprise made Hiei stiffen but he soon understood that whatever happened made Kurama so scared. He thought he’d lost them, so Hiei hugged back and melted into the kiss.
It was a long while before Kurama’s shaking stopped. He gathered Hiei in his arms and sucked hungrily at the small mouth. “Hiei… my Hiei…” he kept murmuring, his arms not wanting to let go.
Hiei let Kurama ravage his mouth, letting out a small moan as the redhead nibbled at his lower lip. Kurama licked his swollen lip and pulled back but his arms remained holding Hiei like a lifeline. He glanced at Hatsuharu, made sure there were no gunshot wounds, no blood and that his son was breathing. He did the same with Hiei, made sure the baby was still there, growing, and sagged in relief.
“Thank God, koi. Thank God!”
Hiei opened his mouth to speak but hurried footsteps came up the staircase and Kurama’s twin brother, Kenshin, peeked in. “Are you alright…?” he asked Hiei.
“I’m fine.” Hiei nodded. “What’s going on?”
Kurama stood up and grabbed Hiei’s robe to cover him. “Some crazy guy’s been shooting all over the place. He killed Oishi, the mailman and Kamatari from next door.” he explained in a hurry and gently removed the blankets off Hiei. “God! He even killed the Uesegi dog. He was firing away like crazy. I thought he got you, too.”
Hiei followed Kurama’s coaxing to get up and let Kurama hug him. Kenshin came over and lifted Hatsuharu, blanket and all.
“Where are we going…?” Hiei asked and did not refuse when Kurama lifted him, bridal-fashion.
“We have to stay in the kitchen.” Kurama replied and kissed Hiei’s forehead. “It’s the farthest room from the street. We’ll be safe there.”
Hiei nodded and they trooped downstairs.
In the kitchen, Aoshi was propped up by the wall, his left leg was wrapped up in bandages where blood had seeped through. With him was Saitou, a detective that lived in their neighborhood, who handed him a glass of water and Chou, who lived next door, who was staring out the kitchen window and muttering to himself.
Kenshin gently laid the sleeping Hatusharu next to Aoshi then went to his husband and kissed his forehead. “How are you…?” he asked, softly.
Aoshi winced but held Kenshin close, one arm going around the small waist. “I’m okay.” he whispered and hugged Kenshin close.
Kurama put Hiei down behind the counter. He ran back up and came down with pillows and blankets. Kurama then made Hiei sit on a pillow and arranged the rest to make a nest around the pregnant Hiei. The petite, expecting mother shuddered as he saw huge drops of blood that led into the kitchen. Kurama sat next to him and held him close.
“Have you called the cops?” Hiei asked.
“The phones don’t work.” Saitou replied and lit up a cigarette.
Kurama straightened. “Don’t smoke here.” he said. “My wife’s pregnant.”
Saitou raised and eyebrow then put the cigarette out by the sink.
“My wife’s dead.” Chou supplied as if he’d been asked. “We’re all gonna fucking die here.”
Hiei bit his lip but Kurama shook his head and nuzzled at him.
“I hope everyone else is safe…” Kenshin murmured.
Hatsuharu stirred and rolled on his side. Hiei leaned closer to Kurama as he watched his son sleep. Kurama kissed his temple. “We’ll be fine, koi. Don’t worry…”
There was a series of knocks on the back door. Saitou took out his gun before disappearing into the hall. Kurama stood up but Hiei grabbed his arm, a look of fear in the ruby eyes. “No…”
The redhead took Hiei’s hand and kissed his palm. “I’ll be fine.” he whispered and followed after Saitou.
Aoshi gripped Kenshin’s waist when he made a move to get up. Kenshin opened his mouth to protest but Aoshi shut him up with a warning glare. He almost got himself killed today. No way was he gonna lose Kenshin, too.
Behind the rattling door, a young voice was whispering. “Oh, jeez… oh, fuck please let there be people here… I don’t wanna die for fuck’s sake…”
Saitou nodded at Kurama and threw the door open, his gun pointed at the newcomer.
Chocolate brown eyes widened at the sight of the gun. It was Sanosuke, the part-timer at the ice cream shop at the end of their block. The youth threw his hands up and fainted.
“Blast!” Saitou growled and hauled the youth inside before firmly locking the door behind him.

Shattered glass and splintered wood rained down on them. Saitou and Sanosuke lay huddlen in a corner. Aoshi was pushing Kenshin under the table while Chou lay unmoving on the threshold between the kitchen and the dining room.
Hatsuharu whimpered as he tried to hide in Hiei’s chest while Kurama shielded them both with his body.
A shower of bullets broke the cabinet windows and still Chou didn’t move or cry out.
Shit! He can’t be dead!, Kurama thought, tightening his hold on Hiei’s tiny body. His mind was racing with panic. What if the shooter decides to come inside?
The east windows shattered after another rain of bullets, Hatsuharu started crying. “M-mom…”
Hiei hugged him, soothing his back. “Shh… stay quiet…”
Kurama buried his face on Hiei’s hair. I can’t live without you…, he wanted to say.
There was an explosion from outside that shook the whole house and then… silence.
They waited for a few minutes, hearts pounding with worry and fear. There was a sound of a car engine revving up and then driving away.
“Shit!” Saitou cursed and pulled out his gun. He stood up and peered from where he was standing, his gun poised and ready.
Aoshi helped Kenshin up while Sanosuke watched Saitou from his hiding place.
Kurama sat up, gingerly, brushing off bits of wood and glass on Hiei. Hatsuharu peeked out, too, his green ayes wide with fear. “Dad…?” he called.
“It’s okay, Haru. Don’t be scared…”
The redhead stopped when Hiei grabbed his arm. “K-kurama…!”
The redhead panicked at once, inspecting Hiei’s small body for any wounds. “Hi-chan…? Where does it hurt? Tell me…”
Hiei groaned in pain. “I-I think my waterbag broke…”
Kurama paled. “W-what…?!?”

THE END
Yep, seriously. This wasn’t finished. *cries bitterly*
Ack! Finally, some break from all that studying!
