We at the Family Rights Coalition need your help to pass House Bill 5267, a bill to assure equal parental responsibility whenever fit, willing and able parents parent their children apart due to divorce, separation or other circumstances .
On Wednesday, December 6th at 2:00 pm, the Family and Children Services Committee of the Michigan House of Representatives will address this issue in a critical hearing . The opposition, which includes those who favor single parent child rearing and those who gain financially from the current adversarial system that bankrupts Michigan families, has the all the resources and power of the government and the legal lobby to defeat this grassroots effort. The future of Michigan's 2.5 million children is at stake.Over 1 million parents have lost parental rights in the State of Michigan. Every day in every family court in this state, parental rights are denied unjustly. We are asking you to imagine what it would be like to have your child or a family member's child removed from your life by forces beyond your control. If you open your eyes to see that this is already happening across our State, we ask that you take some time before Wednesday and contact your Representative and those on the committee as directed in the attached PDF and express your support of this bill. Listen, I know that not all custody situationsare perfect. I know that there are deadbeat dads who don't deserve equal rights. But good parents are suffering, more importantly the kids are suffering.
You all know what hell Jay and I have been through, if this bill passes we have a chance at partial custody, no more child support (for kids he watches 4-5 days a week). Please Please Please just go, write something show the support no matter who or where you are. This is all I want for Christmas.
