Mourning Period.
In the loving memories of Bernard Foo Shu Xiang a.k.a. Rylands the Hentai God. 22nd August 1981 - 23rd August 2007.
My mourning period begun yesterday.
Last Thursday, while at work, I received a call from my crying friend, Shaun, telling me he just received news from Raz that Rylands had passed away. I could barely control my emotions. My friends and I made plans.
After my work, we all convoyed to Penang. The trip was tiring, don't ask. But our goal was met. All of us, alien to his family members, walked in and paid our respects. It was bitter, but all of us stood for pretty long telling him our thoughts.
I have regretted many things I didn't do/say to Rylands.
And I hope he heard what I told him.
Until this very moment, I'm still reminded of his funny smile, his stupid jokes, his parade of hentai collection, his comforting one on one session, his gift he gave me for the first time we met, his voice with his mangkien slang(malay/english/hokkien)... his presence are still so fresh and real.
Thank you very much to Jin and Raz who have helped me through this. One have endured the wait, stood strong against his emotion to give others an assurance which he has no certainty about and the other had told me about his brief meeting and experiences with Rylands that I really would like to thank him for.
I can be strong at many things, but I'm weak in these matters.
I have lost 3 friends to accidents that weren't supposed to happen.
Maybe its true, that we seldom cared about things we see and read in newspaper/magazines until it really hit you.
Thank you to everyone who was there. I do believe, that it is true. If Rylands seen us all, he'd be laughing at us, telling us to stop crying and be happy. Thats who he is. And thats why we love him. To Gan, Wolf, Dai, Jin, Raz, Sizer, Deru, Nerv, Mamoru, Pin-san, Hisashi, Bunny, Heal, Misao, Iluna, Sring and Jess; thank you.
