Nobody died today either.

Day two was okay. I had Spanish this morning, my math class at noon. Spanish was full of amusement because there was one kid in there who just...you know those kids that are about to pee themselves for wanting everyone and their brother to know that they know something? He's one of THOSE. I couldn't help but laugh at him. I've seen puppies who were less eager about something. Hell. And the kid just could NOT shut up. I think half the class will be bringing a roll of duct tape with them on Thursday.

I spent the afternoon after I finished lunch wandering through the horticultural gardens. Sandhills is known for these gardens--they're huge, and they're beautiful. There are several gardens in one--a Japanese garden, a holly arboretum, a beautiful traditional walled English garden, amongst others. I roamed the paths for a bit, then retreated to a bench in the tenderly quiet heart of the English garden, where it was utterly peaceful. There were birds everywhere. I saw a mockingbird, only shades darker than the overcast sky. He spent a great deal of time peering quizzically down at me from his tree.

I stayed out till I was cold, then heaved my backpack on once more and returned to the student center, which was sparsely populated in the afternoon calm. Surprisingly, I managed to get a lot of my homework done. I was pleased.

I have talked to some very nice people. I may make some friends here after all.
