It was a cold and snowy day on Mt Rainier

And we had a great time.

Yes, it was cold, temps in the low 30's, and it snowed, especially up towards Cougar Rock, though just before we got to the campground, a sign said, traction devices required, unless a 4x4, so we turned back.

So we headed back to Longmire and ate in the car where it was warm, and then we did a rock cairn and did our remembrances to our late parents and then headed back to Parkland where my car was, and my sister Betsy's hubby can meet us there to pick her up, and Sal drove back home to Enumclaw, I took Ellen with me back to Seattle as I picked her up at the ferry, and I dropped her back off at the ferry. I think we were back to the car around 3pm or so, and it takes about an hour to get to Seattle. Once I dropped off Ellen, I then drove straight home.

Parkland borders SR7 that takes one south to Milton, but along the way, we go past the Roy Y junction and on to Elbe where we go through to get into the park entrance, at Longmire.

The freezing level was at 3000Ft, Longmire was at 2700Ft, so we were in light snow showers, and light accumulations, if not a dusting, but the roads largely bare and wet.

As predicted, this was the first major accumulation of snow of the season, and we're barely into Nov.

So without further ado, here are some photos I took.

One of the first shots taken shortly after we turned around at a turn about/lookout point along the road, Longmire Rd.

Betsy in the black parka looking off in the distance, Ellen getting her hat and gloves from the back of the van.

Ellen, I think just after she got my photo. I think it's a cute one of her.

Here is another shot of the trees

This is the final shot as the snowfall increased before we climbed back into Sal's new (to them) van, a Honda Odyssey to head back to Longmire for our picnic. We were going to Cougar Rock as that's where Mom and Dad loved to go, but not in this weather, not without traction devices handy.

Overall, a lovely time was had.
