Wow, rents in Seattle sure have gone up lately...

Seattle has plenty of apartments that are now going for WELL over $1000/Mo. And I mean, some studios are over that. Take for instance, the Queen Anne Court Apartments on West Galer St on Queen Anne Hill.

I can't recall now if these were it, or another building, now perhaps gone. Seems to me there was an older apartment building called the Galer Street Apartments just down the street. I know there was a fire in an apartment unit in one of the buildings up there in that section of Galer St a few years back, if so, they must've been it as I recall seeing some funky studios that varied in size, and in layout, but all had rudimentary kitchens, some with a bit more cabinetry than others with the stove, fridge, sink placed randomly in the area, just off the main living space, some had full baths, others had the sink in the kitchen area as they squeezed in a tiny bathroom with the shower and toilet in what may have been an extra closet. None of the spaces looked to have been done much, if at all in at least 20 years when I last saw them, which would've been around 2001.

This Queen Anne Court apartments have been completely redone recently and now sport granite counters, stainless steel appliances and such. I cant recall actually seeing these, but may have. Seemed the building I saw was about a block west of these units. The old listing they had from this past Oct listed the 400SqFt studio at $1,095 or so per month, and I don't think it even had a view, though I'm sure some did.

They also had a 3 bedroom unit on the first floor, but it's kitchen was dated, though it had a full cadre of cabinets, but a small, apartment sized stove in it, and it was pricey, as it had, I think, 2 baths as well. It may WELL have been a much older listing, before renovations.

And some newer rental units go for OVER $5K/Mo in Seattle, so it's expensive to live here, but thankfully, there are still plenty of places that go for considerably less, like in m price range, which is $800/mo, tops.

Anyway, been dinking around here this morning, and was going to see if I have a 1099 form from Chase, can't access online as I can't recall if I actually set up an online account, or if I did, can't recall what my credentials are - and my landline number is totally incorrect, so can't get a security access call - and being Sunday, no one to answer. :-( But that doesn't mean I can't at least get my taxes begun though, which was part of why I was up and kind of at it at 5:30 this morning, though all I've managed to do is eat breakfast, do laundry, and put away the clean dishes - and got sucked into Flikr on a photostream, looking for a photo or two for my ongoing small kitchen series - and saw this one guy who bought an old home, probably from the 20's in Ohio, Cleveland, I think that had many, many original features, but some, like the kitchen were redone back in the 50's and while the house appeared to be reasonably sound, it had issues like a poorly maintained slate roof, ice on the dormers, mangled gutters etc, along with leaks and old knob and tube wiring that may still be in service.

Anyway, countless photos of the exterior, many of them repeats of various angles of the same thing, and a lot of them were OK photos at that.

Anyway, need to get a crackin' around here like shower, and go from there.

So that had me in a feeling this morning as it was gray, overcast and such, and still is even now, with temps only in the mid 40's at almost 1pm. I doubt we'll get much warmer than that today.

Anyway, still also need to reinstall Adobe CS4 too while at it and see if I can get the 32 bit version of Photoshop to install, and run.

So off to the shower!

time suckage, internet, sunday
