Last night I finished cleaning up and trimming the vinyl audio tracks so now it's rip the very few CD tracks, trim the silences there and the CD is ready to burn.
2 tracks, both from the LP It's a Beautiful Day had to be cleaned up of pops and clicks for they were not quite legion, but had repeated pops in places and so cleaned it up so they weren't so bad. There is still the occasional surface noise but that's OK for I don't want to REMOVE all of the imperfections for this is vinyl and that's how vinyl sounds, generally.
Much of the tracks I recorded were extremely clean, but still had that vinyl essence to them, which I like.
Yesterday, I measured the media unit where my current TV sits and yes, I CAN fit a 32" widescreen HDTV with no problems. The 32 Samsungs are around 34" or so, the media unit is a touch over 36" wide. The main issue is that I have a large floor speaker on my right that can't move over anymore due to the wall, yes, it's crowded there but hey, it's what I have to work with, and besides, my living area is at best 11.5x13Ft or so, so anything over 32" is just too big overall.
As you can see by this quick sketch, the living area is not that big due to the placement of the slider's door section and the hall, given all that, the entire space is roughly 11.5x17 or so Ft and with the large slider and the north window, the room as a spacious/airy feel to it, it also helps that I'm on the 4th floor. :-)
The media equipment sits across the front wall where the slider is, with the left speaker spilling over just a little bit into the slider's doorway, the couch, a large sectional that's too big for the space is on the wall that backs up to the bedroom, making for a crowded room. :-) The couch will be replaced however.
Prices and all that for the Samsung are not bad. For the entry level 3 series, I can afford either the 26" or the 32" TV, but going up to th 4 series sets, the 26" is more in my budget, but has a few extra features and a better contrast ratio than the 3 series of the same size. These are the new models if I'm not mistaken.
Anyway, still got more research to do on that and my rebate has not dropped into the acct yet, but according to an article Mom read to me about a month or so ago, due to the last 2 digits of my social, I should not expect it before June 9th but with things starting a bit earlier than planned, it may drop in a little sooner as well so I continue to check.
