Oh my god!!! I went to my mom's house last night. I started crying as soon as I pulled in to the neighborhood. A lot of people were driving around gawking at the damage, and with all the crews parked on the sides of the roads, it was really hard to navigate the roads. So Chrissy, Troy, Charlie, and I walked around the n'hood to see the damage ourselves. There was a news crew from 11Alive on my mom's road, and Fox5 was towards the front of the n'hood. There were two helicopters hovering over the n'hood almost the whole time that made the experience even more surreal. The whole walk averages out to about two miles. When I finally got home last night I was sore and exhausted. I took 77 pics during out walk, here's what I've narrowed it down to:

This tree is in the very front of the n'hood. Some jackass actually had the audacity to honk at me when I stopped my car to snap this pic. Not like we could move very far or fast in the n'hood at the moment.

The wall on the left is where Chrissy would've been parked if we hadn't talked her in to having dinner with us.

This is the van that was parked in my mom's back yard.

My mom's next door neighbor. They were on the news at one point yesterday. They have a very positive attitude about the situation.

Something you don't expect to see when you're just watching where you walk making sure you don't trip on debris...

And another further up the road. Troy made a good point... if they were in the trees when they fell, then they had no chance in getting away :(

This is the house the 11Alive news crews were parked out in front of. It belongs to the parents of one of my childhood friends.

Charlie walked around the whole n'hood carrying the chopper. He got a couple of cute comments about it :)

A woman was raking up the leaves in her front yard, and the hail hadn't melted yet :(

This tree just shows how the trees were just mangled

A crane lifting a tree off this house

And a helicopter filming the tree being lifted up by the crane

From the front of this house, it looked like the trees were growing out of the roof

Um.... yeah...

This just shows how bad it was

Charlie pointed out the pipe that got caught up in the roots

And a shot of the camera man from 11alive shooting my mom's neighbors having the tree taken out of their house

The fact there were no serious injuries in mom's n'hood was just amazing! For those that don't know, my mom lives in the middle of a cul-de-sac on top of a hill. All three of the houses in the cul-de-sac were just the women home alone. Both of the neighbors said 'if they would've known....' if they would've known what? they would've gone outside during the storm to bunker up together? The neighbor with the tree in her house said she'd just left that room to take cover. Mom never even heard the sirens because the hail was so loud.

Sigh... I still want to cry looking at these pics :(
