Thank God!
I had a near-death experience today.
When I was about cycle onto the road at a traffic junction, a huge pickup truck came out of nowhere and nearly ran me over.
Thankfully, my bic shielded me from the impact of the truck and so it got all mangled up while I was completely safe. I was even more freaked out because my laptop was in my bag and if I had fallen any harder, my bag would have been smashed to bits.
It was really strange though, thinking in retrospect. Normally, most people encountering near death experiences are supposed to get sudden flashbacks and get all grateful they're alive. Not me. The first thought that came to my mind was: oh shit! how am I supposed to sell my bic back to the pawn shop now! I wonder what that says about me?
Honestly, everything happened too fast and I'm still not sure who was really at fault since I'm unfamiliar with traffic rules here. What I think happened was, both of us had a right to move but we were supposed to give way to each other. Guess both the truckdriver and I weren't paying much attention.
So as it is, I won't be cycling for the rest of the month before I fly off from the U.S. Sigh. More walking!!! Gasp.
