I learnt a few things after helping to organise a party...
1. It's important to split costs evenly. Some people don't mind contributing more, but not everyone feels the same way. This usually happens with those who don't identify strongly with the party group.
2. You have to accept the fact that some people simply prefer to be served. Not everyone's been trained to help.
3. People will rarely - if ever - thank you, but rest assured that there will be plenty of comments about how things could have been done differently.
4. Worse, some people who were not invited will come up to you and ask why they were not invited!
Getting things going really takes practice, by the look of it. I think I'll try to help organise things again in the future, but next time, I'll do a better job. Hmm.
