I'm actually very curious that I may well start an informal survey of my own. How many people actually felt that your late adolescent years (17-19) were actually memorable? When I look at my kids, and all that they have to go through - adjusting to school life, the pace of their studies, physical/emotional changes, relationships and friendships, parents, authorities/institutions, fears and all - I can't help but be amazed by the fact that most of us somehow manage to survive, albeit with a few scars.
I must remind myself to be a little more compassionate towards them. My stresses and anxieties sometimes leave me with nothing but harsh words and unrealistically high expectations, which I project on others. May I be a little kinder.
