A timely reminder to myself

I was out with C yesterday, which was great because we haven't really spent time since a month ago when I was hit by a tsunami of work and back to back weekends of work. Thank God we have an extremely low maintenance relationship, so we don't need to constantly stay connected and do all that lovey dovey stuff that young couples do ( Read more... )

Methinks we humans tend to take things for granted... become complacent when it feels like things and people would always just be there for us whenever we need them. Until of course, one fine day, we realize it's all gone because it was never about only us - "You don't miss your water till the well runs dry" (recall the song?=p)

You're clearly still motivated to strike that balance. That in itself should never be taken for granted. Motivation in itself has that strange ability to disappear without warning too.

thanks sweetie, for being so encouraging. i've been struggling hard to keep a rooted sense of my self but it's really hard when you combine the personality of a need-to-prove-myself, overly anxious workaholic like me, with the personality of one who needs to spend time with himself, and the people who matter.

I guess we both learnt abit more today.
1. So long as it's your own standards you're judging yourself by (the need-to-prove-myself part).
2. Which is the core and which is the CCA? Let's not put all our eggs in one basket... lest we reach 65 and realize it's too late.
Having said that, there are people who do put all their eggs in one basket... good as long as you know it's what you really want in life.
Some things are important and need to be done even though we don't like it - but no one is indispensable, you need not kill yourself over it... unless you're someone like Aung San Suu Kyi who really can't get someone to replace her role: such people have to do things which they would rather not do. That's why they become great while we little people don't...

I'll like to believe we have a bit of Aung San Suu Kyi in all of us - maybe when the day arises and the circumstances are right, we will simply do what needs to be done.
