passing through Loury this afternoon

my cooking adventure!

queen of the cuttingboard i am

the crumbly feta cheese / olive oil / breadcrumb crust.
host mother says it must be unhealthy but hey, i didn't bake it for her.

smells like cinnamon and garlic and onions and lamb and lentils.

i'll think of a prize if you can guess what book this is from.

overlooking the loire, this afternoon

crossing a bridge over the loire - i watched fireworks around here during the river festival, actually!

it really is this beautiful.

another bridge.

boigny-sur-bionne ? i have no fucking clue. just out the car window.

see above.

loury. their supermarket is nicer than ours. 2km away ? or is it 3 ?

their butcher's shop is cuter than ours too.

some neighbours. this after we passed a pig farm on the winding and narrow road between loury & traînou.

on our street.

continuing.

more neighbours.

a different angle.

75€ wellspent methinks.

i've taken this picture before but hey. the view from my window this afternoon.

part of the first page of jonathan littell's les bienveillantes.

me. a shit photo but that's all i have.

we're going to start a fire, watch a movie, etc. etc. tea & espresso in order, and i'm putting on my woolly socks and real madrid play tonight. probably won't be able to watch. will be irrationally perplexed. oh well. wow, GARY FUCKING MEGSON. that'll take a while to digest - united fans please don't shit yourselves, i ain't cleanin' that up.

it's pretty fucking chilly though. i had a dream it snowed.

i pinched a nerve in my lower back yesterday (had just been working out, and then the extreme temperature change from a heated car to nighttime in almost-winter) which resulted in a pinpoint of intense pain in my back and really dull pain in a lot of my right leg and as a result i spent most of yesterday evening limping or sitting down. i can walk a little better today but this woman tried to help me get a book off the shelf at the fnac because she thought i was handicapped. i think. and somebody asked me for directions. i'm not from around here, go bother somebody else pls.
