Ratchet drabble - AKA, How Ratchet Became An Officer
Optimus had been missing, and Prowl unconcious, when Ratchet showed up. No one was quite certain where he came from, only that he was quite obviously here now, and intending to stay. By the time Prowl woke up, the medic had practically taken over med bay through a combination of terror and competence. With the Prime missing, there were worse concerns than a skilled medic taking over med bay, though, and so Prowl had declared he'd deal with it later.
Unfortunately, when they found Optimus, he inevitably ended up in med bay. And he came out chuckling.
"Prime?" Prowl had asked, and Optimus had sobered, turning towards his second-in-command with a serious expression.
"I don't know where you found that medic, but I like him," he'd said, then started chuckling again, fingering a new dent in his helm as he strode off down the hall.
And so Ratchet had stayed.
Because my muse!Optimus has a twisted sense of humour
