So apparently August is when I decide summer's ending (because dude, it is, days are getting shorter and cooler now) and decide to have crazy adventures. Remember last year when I did Operation: I Can't Get Transportation To Any Beaches Nearby So I'll Just Fly To Miami Instead? (This involved buying plane tickets for a Friday flight on either Tuesday or Wednesday, I can't remember which.)
Well this year there is a new bus service between DC and the Delaware beaches! So on Saturday I went out to Rehoboth and spent the day swimming and napping on the sand. And having the healthiest lunch ever of french fries and funnel cake. It was good. (Note for the future: The bus AC is COLD and being wet in it doesn't have good results. But I was only sick for Sunday.)
Monday evening I went to see the Scissor Sisters, with Casey Spooner of Fischerspooner opening. They were very fun and energetic and put on a good show. It was at DAR, so there were actually seats, but I stood up and danced in the aisle. It was only the second show of the tour and so they were telling us how they were still working out the kinks, but it was fiiine.
Over the weekend I learned that the Shakespeare Theater Company Free-For-All was happening right now, and it was the same production of Twelfth Night we saw two years ago, but this time around Randy Harrison was playing Sebastian in it. They're doing the tickets by lottery this year, and I thought, well, Wednesday is the night I want to go, but I ought to enter on Tuesday also just in case, and then if Wednesday doesn't work I'll keep entering next week until I get tickets. So Tuesday I enter, get an email saying I have no tickets, yadda yadda. Wednesday I entered the lottery again and got tickets. They ended up being row G, too. So Shelly went and picked them up and I got there straight from work right before the play started and it all turned out just right and exactly as I had planned. I occasionally have bizarrely perfect skills at last minute planning and events and travel (see: when I pwned Dunedin in January). The play was very full of sexual innuendo and multi-shipping and everyone was good and it was oddly surreal yet entirely normal to have one of the actors be Randy Harrison.
Tomorrow I am going down to Richmond with a random person from the internet for Operation: Seduce TommyJoe an Adam Lambert concert and then taking the bus back up at 3am so I can get home to clean for Games Night. Possibly the bus station in the middle of the night is a littttle sketchy so let us hope for me.
Aaaand then just now I also decided fuck it, let's keep it up, and bought a ticket for the Lady Gaga concert on September 7 even though all they have left at this late date is really crappy seats. Even if it's non-optimal it won't be a complete waste of my time or anything. And with all that, it's still much cheaper than flying to Miami, right?

EDIT: Oh, the internets just told me that Adam Lambert was at the Scissor Sisters show in NYC last night! My glittery gay week psychic powers must have compelled him!
