What can I say, I'm ahead of the curve

Mike Vick likes to do sick and wrong things to dogs. Allegedly. Yesterday, Sen. Robert Byrd felt compelled to come to the floor of the Senate in morning business around 5 PM and, well, talk about it. And I felt compelled to tell someone about it myself, so I talked to Kevin.[17:00] bkabby111: Senator Byrd is talking...at about 60 words per minute...about dogfighting, and while that's a gruesome, serious topic, I can't help but chuckle at his rhetorical style. If you can even call it "style".
[17:01] bkabby111: To quote: "Dogfighting is also a multi-million dollar business that involves training innocent...innocent...innocent...vulnerable creatures to kill! To kill! To kill! And putting them in a ring to be killed! Or to kill!..."
[17:03] bkabby111: You tell 'em, Byrd.
[...]
[17:09] bkabby111: "Barbaric! Barbaric! BARBARIC!...BARBARIC! Let that word resound from hill to hill, mountain to mountain, from valley to valley, across this broad land. Barbaric! Barbaric!" I'd really like to see what this ends up like in the record.
[17:09] bkabby111: "BARBARIC! Hear me! (holds up piece of paper, looks right at camera) Barbaric!"
Well, today, Deadspin got a hold of the story, and predictably did what they do:Seriously: Let that word resounding from hill to hill. From mountain to mountain. From valley to valley. BARBARIC.

And to think just a year ago that word was Barbaro.
[Deadspin:Michael Vick is Angering Congress]
Alright, back to the British Open.

UPDATE: Politico's Congress blog has the full speech here, in 3 parts The quoted section starts with about 4:45 left in part 2.

UPDATE 2: When this was all going on, I told Kevin "I'd really like to see what this ends up like in the record," knowing the tendency for things to change due to "revisions and extensions of remarks". It took me a while to find it, I almost thought it had fallen into some for of Senate memory hole, but alas, it exists. Though the word "barbaric" only appears 5 times.
