I think we have a wee quorum of people who are up for a Pros Novel Read-Along of Rob's Waiting to Fall, and since it's only Tuesday perhaps we could start this week with just the first chapter? We might want to hurry along later and do more than one chapter at a time, but let's see how we go. *g*

I found a good tool for generating an ebook from a web page:
Generate an ePub
Generate a Mobi
I expect to find it easier to keep my place with the fic in an ebook format. It will also make it possible to adjust the size of the type and other text attributes.

Ah cool - I bet that will be useful for some people, especially directly from a website! Thank you!

I must admit that I'm planning to print out the chapters as we go along (wondering how many ink cartridges it'll take!), because I find it hard to go back and forth on my e-reader, which I always want to do when I'm talking about stories. I found the UK Paper Circuit copy, but it's pretty stinky, so I think a new version is needed!

Love the picture - hearing Doyle ready to explode: "I did WHAT???"

Yeay!

Also - oooh, where's your copy from? Is it a paper copy? If so I have a question... *g*

It looks as if it was copied from a zine, because it has page numbers and you can tell where the holes were punched on the original copy. I think I bought it from the Rondeau's, because there was no cover. I made covers and made two comb-bound volumes. :-)

When you get towards the end of Chapter 1, there's a line "Don't mention it. Only reason I took 'em was because I didn't want you going round Mum's upsetting her when you came out. If I'd had my way I'd've chucked them on the council tip the day of the funeral. Get your cases and get out, I don't ever want to set eyes on you again." On the Circuit copy (the online one and the paper circuit copy too) it says "missing line" after that, and then the next line is "but his brother didn't want to hear." I don't suppose your copy has the missing words by any chance? *g*

By the way, using the search function of my ebook reader, I have discovered three places where the transcriber mentioned that material was missing. Two instances say "missing line" and one says "missing phrase."

Yes, I came across "missing line" when I was reading Chapter 1 from the Circuit, so Cntrl+F-ed for any more "missing", and came up with a couple more. I don't think there's more than a few words missing each time though, so whether that's all Fiorenza meant I don't know (and if so, why couldn't she just say that was it?). "incomplete" suggests something more substantial than that, to me though, so...? Anyway, I'm hoping one person might have a copy that includes those few words! *g* They're almost there on the Circuit copy, but the copier cut off everything except a few top dots of the letters!

And if nothing else, it's kick-started a read-along of a classic Pros fic! *g*

If you can tell me what's missing, I may be able to help. My paper copy seems to be complete.
