I loved this story - sat down and read it, late into the night, all in one go. I generally like Ellis Ward anyway - she writes a Bodie and Doyle that seem very true to their characters, even when she puts them into alternate universe settings, as she did here - and although I really should re-read her others to make sure (*g*) I'd say this is quite likely to be one of my favourites.
In this fic Bodie is a computer technician (having been in Africa earlier in his life) and Doyle is a successful writer. Their meeting has a lovely air of fate about it - not wanting to spoiler the story too much here! - and I love the inevitability of their connection, which is woven, I think, all through the fic. The plot is interesting, and although it's supernatural it doesn't actually ask you to suspend whatever disbeliefs you may have - even Bodie doesn't have to, and he's right in the thick of it. In fact I love his reasoning about everything that's going on, it seems very him somehow.
It's hard to say too much without giving things away, so I won't - just that I found this to be a beautifully written, compelling read!
