Angel In A tornado

Dear everyone,
I would have written earlier, but my computer was down due to the tornado yesterday!
Yesterday when I was at work, there was supposed to be a BBQ outside. But it was starting to rain. Still. since the BBQ was a huge event, my boss wanted me to go up to the Skilled Nursing floor and see if anyone wanted to go outside. One lady, Kay, wanted to go! She had a motorized wheelchair. I walked down with her and walked outside with her and started walking towards the tent. Because her wheelchair was so slow, we were going VEEEEEEERY slowly! Suddenly it started to rain again! Kay was afraid her wheelchair would get messed up in the rain, so we decided to go back inside. Just then, the tornado sirens went off! The actual sirens must have been right across the street from us, they were so loud!
So now I was trying to calmly urge Kay to go as fast as she could, which wasn't very fast since her wheelchair goes only like a quarter mile per hour! And all this panic is setting in around us as people go running around acting crazy! I was trying to tell people, "Its okay, the siren goes off all the time, we just have to go inside because its the rule!"
Finally me and Kay got through the double doors. I turned around and looked outside. The sky was GREEN, and all this dirt was blowing towards us! It looked so crazy!
The staff were telling us to go into the hallways. I went with Kay into the hallway. I saw all of these people running in through the door at the end of the hall. One elderly lady had blood all over her face! I heard later that the tent had blown up and the tent pole had smacked her in the face! Several other elderly people had fallen while trying to run inside.
So. The weird part is... once everyone was inside, the staff at my work was like, "Proceed as normal!" They had all the people sitting down in the atrium, and someone was playing the piano, and they had me SERVING COCKTAILS! A tornado is blowing around outside, and I am SERVING COCKTAILS!
Ugh. I couldn't wait for that day to end.
Finally six o'clock came around and I ran through the storm out to my car. Driving home was like driving through mayhem! Everywhere I looked trees were down, stoplights were out, and puddles were about a foot deep!
Plus I didn't have any gas... I was literally on EMPTY! I had gone empty that morning, but had been rushing to work, so I hadn't had time to stop for gas. I'd thought I would make it back to the gas station after work.
Unfortunately it was taking me so long to get home because of all the opsticals (traffic, puddles, trees in the middle of the road, busted stoplights, etc) PLUS all the gas stations were without electricity so I couldn't get gas!
Thank my lucky stars, I made it home!
But when I got home, there was like half a tree in my front yard, and the basement was flooded.
Good times, good times!

With love, from Angel
