So, I havent been fictioning for a while. I find that I only fiction when I am stressed to the max and need to procrastinate. So the muse waxes and wanes.
I've been recently watching a whole heap of Ellen on Youtube, like I like her show generally, but then I started to discover more about what her actual story was and it is freaking amazing. She came out and literally lost her career for three years and suffered through a major depression and then made a massive comeback. I saw the Oprah interview and a couple of others that she did back in 1997 when she came out and it is just heartbreaking. She is up on the stage being her usual positive charming self, but you can see it in her eyes and body language that she is fucking terrified out of her mind. I just have a newfound absolute respect for this woman and what she has done for the LGBT community.
A lot of people say she isn't political enough, but I think she has definitely putting stuff out there. The simple fact she is beamed into millions of homes across the world every week day is a pure form of activism.
Im not sure, but I dont think people like talking about sex. If it is between two beautiful people like Brangelina, nobody gay straight or otherwise could give a shit because they are the beautiful untouchables, right? But when it is regular everyday folk, noone wants to hear or see or talk about other peoples sex unless you are really good friends. So I get it when people say 'But I dont want to know about that, that is their private business' when they are iffy about homosexuality. It is the same for straight people - I or anybody else dont want to know about the goings on of Ben and Sally. The distinguishing feature however, and I think is at the crux of the problem though is that when you say "Ben is in love with Sally" you think 'oh, love' and dont think about them having sex, right? It is a detached statement. When you say "Ben is gay and in love with John" then gay=homosexual= the word sex. I dont know what the situation in AMerica is, but classic British is to be kinda prudish. Im saying this all wrong, but my main point is it seems like there needs to be a way to find a word that detaches the word 'homosexuality' from the idea of 'sex' and equates it with 'love' and then maybe people wouldnt be so uncomfortable about the whole thing.
Anyway, you are probably gay if:
1. You have to consciously decide whether if that is indeed Brad Pitt or Matt Damon.
2. You rewatch Grey's and when Mark Sloan is naked in the shower, your only thought is 'I hope that is a fancy diver's watch cos otherwise the water will cause some serious damage to it.'
3. You consider boobs to be a legitimate plot device that can literally save storylines just by their presence. (See: Medium, Rizzoli and Isles)
Also can I just say that that Latina Sara Ramirez photoshoot is something amazing, like a gift from baby cheeses. I just, I cant. My fav is the smiley one and the front cover. The front cover my god. I just I cant. Im not even going to verbalise on this issue, as I may just happen to paint myself as a pervert.
