I've just been pondering over the breakup and the new promo for 7x09.
I have decided I am all for this breakup. Jetgirl78 said it right, when she mentioned that Calzone has gone from 0 to U-haul in like 1 second. As much as I loved their relationship, and I do and I still want it, I always felt like something was slightly missing.
I think this was mainly due to the ways the writers and directors created it. Something felt entirely too "teenage" about the whole thing. "Teenage" in the way that their scenes were either sweet (kiss in stairwell), making-out/fumbling around more often than not with hysterical giggling, fighting and bitching to friends outside the relationship.
This is why I am looking forward to the long painful/joyous/wonderful road back to MFEO that Shonda has promised. I am sick of seeing "teenage" and want to see "mature". And by that I dont mean sex. I mean romance. I mean Mulder/Scully energy. Where one touch of the hand says "I love you so much I would follow you to the ends of the earth." Or that scene in the L word where Tina and Bette are dancing at Jenny's film premiere to "walk on by" and Bette drags her hand over Tina's hip, and Tina slides her hand down Bette's arm. Like, nothing in that sentence is explicit, but it just showed how much they loved and worshipped each other. I would love to see more of that sort of shit where it is just them communicating to each other as two soulmates, yknow? Not going to Mark or Teddy. Just Calzone driving their own story and not being the supporting players on somebody else's.
Also my biggest fear here is that Callie will sleep with Mark and then they realize the mistake, AZ comes back (worst fear: with some physical affliction) and Callie and AZ start to mend themselves until woops! Callie discovers she is pregnant. Fairly sure that hits daytime soap opera territory. Just throwing it out there.
Also i hate the red head already. She better be the sub-letter or something, cos if she is hitting on Callie or vice versa I will punch some person out.
Is all.
