You never realize how much you depend on your ability to talk until you go to work with Laryngitis...

especially if you are still doing what you were the last time I talked to you. :)

Tried to do the Shrek loadin the day after the Haunted House I was working in closed ... & I'd spent the 2nd to last day there on the zipline, which meant much more "noise making" in a heavier fog than I was used to. *grin*

I kept having to tell people that no, I wasn't sick ... I just had been screaming my head off in heavy fog! lol (Of course, I also had raw skin on my neck from the ill-fitting harness ... so they kinda believed me.)

There was one point where a co-worker with a "smaller" voice than me was trying to communicate with someone on the ground from the beam. She radioed down to me to see if *I* could reach him (I was on the 1st balc). After a few attempts, I had to radio back that no -- apparently I could NOT! lol Normally, my voice reaches damned near anywhere, if I need it to. I was damned near TOTALLY mute by the end of each day.

All in all, Shrek was an "interesting" loadin ... including a trussstack falling because an overeager local pulled the wrong pins, & they bent the living hell out of one of our pipes. It totally looked like one of those old paper hats afterwards. lol I was VERY glad to be FOH, even if I couldn't shout down to the ground very well.
