Singapore Two Years Later (Part 2)

Feb 13, 2015 09:13

Here’s a typical scenario at home:

Me: “Aiza, pakihanap nga ng blouse na black na butas-butas,” or “Lita, nasaan na yung grey sweater ko na mahaba?”

Every time I look for an item of clothing I can’t find-which is typically black, grey, or navy-the maids give me a blank stare like “here we go again.”

My closet at home is a disaster area. Purchased at BoConcept 11 years old, it is literally falling apart and has collapsed on me. One of the doors is gone.

I’ve been canvassing at stores all over Metro Manila. The nice closets are 500,000 pesos up. If I choose the closet I really like, it will cost about Php 1 million and will take months to order from Italy, and I can’t wait.

Nor do I have the budget.

Ah….those Poliform closets….

So this trip, I told my husband I intended to order closets from IKEA and have them shipped here.

Jeroen and I took the measurements at home before going to Singapore.

First, a look around the store…That little blue cart is one of my favorite things at home, given by my sister

I want this Billy/Oxberg corner book case for my bedroom

Affordable!

I want to fill up my stockroom with lots of these

Tall shoe closets are next on the wish list

And bag storage. Lots of it.

Here’s a nice, simple bed with storage

The rugs are a steal at $49 each

A nice study area

A room for two little kids

Finally, these are the closets we chose for the house

And the nice lady who helped us ship the items to the Philippines. You are an angel, Jannie Han!

Thanks to Jannie Han and Mr. Mohamed Kassim of PTC Logistics Limited, we should have new closets in a few weeks. I love you IKEA! The maids and I are excited!
