Kurama picked up Hiroko from Tsukino Village. Hiroko also joined the war. They had time to make a combined stance "Shizen Bijuudama". Until one day, Hiroko ran out of chakra and was pierced by a spears that was shot by the enemy. Hiroko died in Kurama's lap to protect Kurama who was off guard. She promised to be reincarnated every 100 years to meet Kurama on future. So that Kurama would not be lonely before being cremated by the necklace Kurama gave him.
