You know , at least in the anime, we see the almost EXACT moment Oro goes "ooh immortality!" when he's at his parents grave and finds the shed white snake skin and Sarutobi talks about renewal. I SWEAR the reason he wants to live forever (at least as a kid) is to live long enough for his parents to reincarnate
