Applications!

We got up early and drove to Chicago for an interview with a guy from Columbia. The car ride seemed short on the way. We parked in vallet parking (scary...we had a lot of valuable in the car) and walked to our appointment. The man who met with us was very nice. He was a short, young, black man, who majored in jazz and played the drums. He said "you know what I mean" a lot and talked A LOT. We would ask him one thing and he'd just talk....forever! My mom had to interrupt him just to ask something else. After he was donw with our questions, he gave us a tour around some of the rooms. Columbia did seem very nice, and I was intrigued that I could study Japanese at a language institute while going to school there (I read about it in a college magazine). We went to a nice little restaurant for lunch called "Hackney's". I was REALLY hungry and got seven mini burgers. They were really good and I ate six of them. I was SO FULL!! We drove home soon afterwards...except Miles had forgotten some stuff and the restaurant, and we had to go back for them.

Merika called in the afternoon and invited Miles and me over to try some of the Spanish "tortilla" (it was completely different from the idea of a Mexican tortilla) she made. After setting up some plans with Aimee, as well, we went to Merika's and tried the tortilla. It was thick and round and tasted kind of like hash browns. Merika said she had made it too bland, though. She also was making baked Spanish apples, but they were still cooking while we were there. We finished watching "Triplets of Belleville" and then Miles and I set out to pick up Aimee. Merika joined us, as she wanted to come with. We picked up Aimee and I drove around on Randall looking for places to apply. We drove around for hours and wound up applying to: Services Etc., Hobby Lobby, Panera, Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins, Coconuts, Jamba Juice, a sandwhich place at the mall...and more. I also reapplied at Hollister, got an application for Old Navy (aah! no!), got an application for Barnes and Noble, and we plan to apply online for H&M. So, we better get jobs!! We did some other fun stuff besides just applying. We listened to music at Barnes and Noble, tried some weird juice at a kitchen store that has samples, tried to get into the Kane County Circuit Clerk (or rather, Miles did, as he thinks a giant filing cabinet it "magical")...Oh! And applied at Randall.

Driving was kind of crazy. I made some freaky turns sometimes...and was pretty tired of driving by the end. We accidentially got into a lane where we couldn't turn left, so we had to go down a northern Geneva neighborhood and try to pop out back on Randall. At one point we drove down a dead end road with a ton of courts, but only one cross street. It was annoying. We decided to eat at Bistro Thai and it was really good. The Kee Mao (sp?), which I hadn't had before, was especially spicy and some of us were tearing. Aimee liked it, but I felt incredibly full by the end. I drove home and had gotten some of my comics from Ebay in the mail and procceded to read them.

The late New Mutants comics (issues 75-100) really aren't so amazing, though, a lot of characters die and leave towards the end and I don't like the art as much. A new writer replaces Chris Claremont, and I don't like her as much...

Japanese word of the day: "Doraib o suru" which means "to drive". "Doraibu" is the closest the Japanese can come to saying "drive" and the whole phrase basically means "to do the drive"

Oh my gosh! I'm listening to "Smooth Criminal" and the bounce of my mood star matches the beat!
