Had a very surreal day this Saturday. First off, Sofie and I were trawling the streets of Vienna looking for something to do rather than eat, and ended up watching a girl playing piano as street music. I don't know why, but it was very strange watching somebody play piano in the middle of a busy street, I mean, how the hello kitty did she cart the piano around town? She must have access to a ground level in-town basement in which to store it. The second occurred when Sofie and I were sitting on her roof. Sofie was curled up in the fart-smelling astroturf and I was absentmindedly looking at the sky when I saw what looked like the scape of stars moving rapidly behind an object. My immediate though was: plane but I realised it wasn't blinking and then realised it was the International Space Station Sofie had been saying would fly over Vienna. I screamed at Sofie and for a few minutes it was pure blind searching and fumbling with my video camera (too dark) and Sofie calling her parents (didn't care). It was incredibly strange to see it gliding effortlessly through the sky. I felt very small, very insignificant. I kept imagining the view the station has of the world and how small a place Austria is..and then how small Vienna is..and then how small I was sitting on a roof near the Stephansdom.

The third and forth happened within two minutes of eachother and concerned meetings with wild animals, the first being a marder and the second a hedgehog. I saw this feline looking animal creeping up the road near the tram station and it was only upon walking closer that I saw that it looked like a small otter. Then it dawned on me that it was a marder, as they can be seen sometimes in town. All this time the animal had been looking at me curiously, but with no fear. It then ran very close to me, climbed up the column of someone's garage and disappeared. Never been so close to one before, I knew them solely for creating a 'bloody massive bill' (father's words) concerning repairs for the car..stealing electrical titbits for their...nests? (Lol, the mental image of marders laying eggs). Then we drove past a hedgehog..running around this little patch of grass on the roadside. I never realised they could move THAT fast.

School's almost over and for some reason this doesn't fill me with hyperactive glee.
