Woah 2 updates in one day...let alone 2 updates in 1 hour! See what procrastination does to you?
So as mentioned in last nights entry, I'm going to QLD! Woo!
I'm heading up on the 12th July and staying for 7 days 6 nights with my cousin Natalia, sister Jess and her friend Vanessa. It should be cool because we're all over 18 and what not so we can do whatever we want.
So how it all came about...Natalia decided she wanted to go to QLD and asked me if I wanted to go...at first I wasn't really interested because I'm trying to save, and then she started to point out that it wouldn't cost us much and all the fun stuff we can do and before I knew it I was saying "we" instead of "you" *sigh* But yeah, we took advantage of that Jetstar "take a friend for free" thing so flights only cost us $100 each both ways! Yay!
My sister heard and decided she wanted to go to, which we figured wasn't too bad because if we got 4 people we could get an apartment and accomodation would be heaps cheaper. So then we had to find a 4th person and surprisingly that took forever. We tried friends (no money or can't get off work) so we had Natalia's brother as a "last resort" (his words) but finally my sister's friend said she'd come.
There were flights available to and from the Gold Coast right until the night we went to book! Like even that day there were some, but then when I went to book there was only 3 left to go up and enough left to come back. So, now we have to fly to Brisbane on the way up and fly home from the Gold Coast. Doesn't sound like a huge deal buuuutttt...
The flight from Brisbane leaves from Avalon airport, not the usual Tullamarine in Melbourne. But when we arrive home we arrive back at Tullamarine! So we can't drive ourselves to the airport. We're going to have to catch a special bus out to Avalon which costs like $20 per person. But on the way back at least we've gotten someone to come pick us up...it's just no one will drive to Avalon to drop us off (it's a good 2hr drive from where we live).
We arrive in Brisbane at midnight and the first train out to Gold Coast is at 6 am, so we've figured, because we're trying to save money...that we're going to "Amazing Race" it and sleep in the airport that first night. We figured no point in paying for a room when we'd a) have to get 2 rooms and b) only be there for like 4hrs before we'd have to be up and get ready to catch the train.
So thats about all there is, it's become a much bigger inconvience than what it was originally going to be. It's going to be a long night, but oh well, thats 1/2 the fun of travelling by yourself. It's my practise for Europe.
We plan to go to Dreamworld for a couple of days, shop, party over the weekend and possibly these Zorba balls that Natalia has heard about...you know those big blow up balls where you're inside it while it rolls down the hill? Yeeeaaaaah those! If it's not too expensive that is. But should be cool fun.
