Yuuhi and the Kodoku Senshi
Well... As you already know Kodoku Senshi is a favourite manga of Yuuhi's. It is, in fact, all the rage in the town she is in.
Introduction: Young 16-year-old Reina Maria has lost everything. Abandoned from a young age by parents who despised her Starred eye, she goes on to lose her one and only friend, sworn brother and childhood friend Kaine at the age of 9. One day, she chances upon the all-male renegade group Lost Brothers, and joins them... To defeat the enemy... Make him pay for her brother's death... And maybe... To save the world. This is the story of the lonely warrior, Kodoku Senshi.
YES. I know you are rolling your eyes. This is the kind of manga she reads. It's a surprise she's not put off by the sheer Mary-sueness and cliche-ness of the summary.
Well, some things are to be expected from the story as you have already read:
1. She's an orphan. You know, this generates all that emo-child thing (read: Uchiha Sasuke). Very typical. (Don't worry though, I like Sasuke. xDDD)
2. She's bent on revenge. (Yeah, another Sasuke thing. Revenge is cool, supposedly.)
3. She's abandoned. Another emo-generator. Very typical as well, in fanfiction.
4. She has no kin. Yes, the oh-so-pitiful-me factor that is characteristic of the modern Mary Sue.
5. SHE JOINS A ALL-MALE GROUP. Betcha it's all male. (Read between the lines: Supposedly every one of them is attracted to Reina Maria. Miraculously.)
6. They're a renegade group, going against the leaders of the war-torn country. Sounds typical? Betcha it is.
7. Well, she's a lonely warrior. The cool factor is definitely being exploited here. Although this makes no sense, because she's part of Lost Brothers. Perhaps it's alluding to the fact that she's the only female. xP
8. She's saving the world. Yeah, Superman syndrome. (CoughIchigocough)
9. The enemy is attracted to her. This is unsaid, but it's true. Yuuhi finds it really romantic. *bluergh* (CoughOrihimecoughAizencoughUlquiorracough)
10. She has some kind of cool Eye Jutsu. The pre-requisite of a Mary Sue ever since the advent of Naruto and the wonders of the Sharingan. Except that the Sharingan doesn't make things too unreal. No pun intended.
So, the top ten Mary Sue factors that Reina Maria has. Definitely Mary Sue here. The Mary Sue Litmus Test's word of advice?
