Just watched Inception today.
Goddamn.
It was awesome.
I'm not going to reveal spoilers, here, so anyone who hasn't watched it (WATCH IT! :O Before it's gone...!) can read on, don't worry. :)
It's a really thrilling movie, and intellectually challenging as well. For people who're used to following slower, less complicated movies and films (like my dad, who couldn't get some of the stuff in this movie), a little more concentration is needed.
Expect epic scenes.
As for how good it really is, well... Mum said it was better than Avatar. I say it's a close match between the two. This movie has everything - thrilling action scenes, mystery, complications, brainy stuff, a bit of romance, lots of imagination and a very good script. The ending hints at a sequel, and I really hope there's one. :D
The beginning is a little hard to follow if you go into the cinema without actually reading up a bit on the background story of the movie, actually (I could see question marks popping around Dad's head).
This might be how complicated Inception will be if you don't know what's going on.
So... simply speaking, the movie is set is a world where entering into people's dreams is possible. And extracting valuable information from the dreamer's mind by entering their dreams is also possible. But the reverse process, to plant an idea in the dreamers mind, otherwise known as Inception, is far more difficult.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays Cobb, an Extractor who has lost everything because of his stealing information from various powerful people, who takes on a challenge to plant an idea into a dreamer's head, in exchange for reunion with his family.
But there's more to Inception that giving someone an idea. Because an Idea is all it takes...
